Outdoor Kitchen Designs

If you are thinking of having an outdoor kitchen, then you have certainly noticed how popular they have become in Sydney & other popular Australian cities. Whether it’s family time, a casual gathering or a big party, you can always count on people to gather in the kitchen.

Well, outdoor kitchens make it possible for such activities to be done outside, without sacrificing the homey kitchen atmosphere. However, these kitchens are more than just a huge grill. Yes, the grill is necessary, but that is just the beginning. Tables, cabinets, wood-fired ovens, bars, warming drawers, etc. all have to be incorporated in your design. From basic to exotic, the options are limited just by your imagination and budget.

Well, there are a lot of things to consider when it comes to outdoor kitchen design, which we shall discuss in this article.

Things You’re Likely To Cook, How Much and How Often

Grills come in numerous options all in varying prices. But do you really need a grill? If no one ever visits and you’re only two in the house, do you need a big grill? If you primarily cook burgers, pork chops and steaks, do you really need that costly rotisserie?

Is a pizza oven better suited for your requirements? Of course, you can get all these, but there is no need to invest if you are not going to use them. However, this does not mean that you should get the cheapest grill. Know the features that you require and shop accordingly.

The last thing you want is to get a cheap grill, have it installed on an appealing stone veneer, only to be forced to take it out due to malfunctions or need for replacement.

Does Your Yard Support The Outdoor Kitchen?

After cooking the chops and steaks on your appealing grill and pass them out to your guests, is there space available for them to sit? Do you have covered seating space for relief from the scorching sun or light rain? You should be careful to keep the seating area a reasonable distance from the cooking area.

Also, it’s worth noting that the effect of excellent outdoor cooking is lost if people have to go back inside to eat. The rest of the outdoor space should complement and support the outdoor kitchen. This doesn’t mean you have to get a gazebo or a covered porch, even though both are nice, but it’s advisable to at least have a chair and table set with a patio umbrella over it.

How Much Space in The Yard?

If you have a small courtyard behind your house, then you may not have enough space for a deluxe outside kitchen. You need to think about your needs and not just what looks awesome in the outdoor kitchen designs pictures.

Purchase what you require, considering your budget as well. Outdoor kitchens set you back anywhere from $1,000 to $100,000 depending on the design, size, material as well as the level of luxury. Know that everything doesn’t have to be done at once. Consider a long-term design plan and everything will ultimately fall in place.

Also, bear in mind that while it is great to have an outdoor kitchen, it’s not essential. In fact, most backyards do not have one, but can get by with a standard Aussie BBQ or Weber!

But if you’ve got the money & space to make it a reality, an outdoor kitchen can be a fantastic way to bring a new level of comfort & style to your yard… and improve your entertaining!
